Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FactCheck, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the service.

2. Description of Service

FactCheck provides AI-powered fact verification services through web browser extensions, mobile applications, and web portals. Our service analyzes content and provides accuracy assessments based on available information.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Providing accurate and complete information

4. Subscriptions and Auto-Renewable Payments

4.2 Auto-Renewal Terms

All subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan.

4.3 Payment Processing

• iOS Users: Payment charged to Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Web Users: Payment processed via Stripe
• Prices shown in U.S. dollars and may vary by region
• Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when purchasing a subscription

4.4 Managing Your Subscription

iOS Users:

1. Open Settings on your device
2. Tap your name at the top
3. Tap Subscriptions
4. Select FactCheck
5. Tap Cancel Subscription

Web Users: Manage subscriptions at accounts.ideasquantified.com

4.5 Cancellation Policy

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds for partial periods
• You retain access until the end of the paid period

4.6 Free Trials

We may offer free trial periods for new subscribers. You will be charged when the trial period ends unless you cancel before the trial ends. Trial terms will be clearly displayed at signup.

5. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

You may use your own API keys from third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Brave Search):

• You are responsible for API costs from third-party providers
• Subscription usage limits do not apply when using BYOK
• You must comply with each provider's terms of service
• API keys are stored securely on your device only

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for illegal or unauthorized purposes
• Attempt to bypass usage limits or security measures
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
• Use the service to spread misinformation
• Share or resell access to your account

8. Intellectual Property

The service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Ideas Quantified and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

9. User Content and Data

You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a license to:

• Process and analyze the content to provide the service
• Store content as necessary for service delivery
• Use anonymized, aggregated data for service improvement

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the Account screen:

• Personal information (email, name, user ID) is permanently deleted
• Payment and subscription data is removed
• Analytics data is anonymized (user association removed)
• Deletion cannot be undone
• Active subscriptions are canceled automatically

11. Third-Party Services

FactCheck integrates with third-party AI and search services. Your use of these services through FactCheck is subject to their respective terms:

• OpenAI (GPT models)
• Anthropic (Claude models)
• Brave Search
• Apple In-App Purchases (for iOS)
• Stripe (for web payments)

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IDEAS QUANTIFIED SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of subscription fees
• Any reason at our discretion

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be notified at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

17. Apple App Store Terms

For iOS users purchasing through the Apple App Store:

• Payment charged to your Apple ID account
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled 24 hours before period end
• Manage subscriptions in Apple ID Account Settings
• Apple is not responsible for the Service or these Terms
